Master the Depths of Technical Diving
The PADI Tec 50 course is your gateway to advanced technical diving, designed for divers who wish to extend their depth capabilities to a maximum of 50 meters (165 feet). This course builds on your previous training, enhancing your knowledge and skills for planning and executing complex dives safely.
Course Overview
The Tec 50 course provides a thorough understanding of advanced dive planning, gas management, and emergency procedures for deeper dives. You’ll learn how to utilize multiple gas blends and apply decompression theory effectively, setting the stage for deeper exploration in the underwater world.
Course Structure and Dives
- Knowledge Development:
- Engage in comprehensive classroom sessions covering:
- Advanced dive planning techniques, including contingency planning and risk assessment
- Use of multiple gas mixtures for various phases of a dive
- Advanced decompression theory, including the use of dive computers
- Equipment configurations for technical diving, including redundant systems
- Engage in comprehensive classroom sessions covering:
- Confined Water Training:
- Refine critical skills in a controlled environment, focusing on:
- Gas-switching procedures and emergency ascent techniques
- Proper use of technical diving equipment, including redundant air supplies
- Maintaining buoyancy and stability with advanced gear configurations
- Refine critical skills in a controlled environment, focusing on:
- Open Water Dives (minimum of four dives):
- Dive 1: Depth and Gas Management: Conduct a dive to a maximum depth of 40 meters (130 feet). Focus on managing your gas supply and practicing emergency procedures, including gas switches and ascent protocols.
- Dive 2: Extended Depth Awareness: Perform a dive to 45 meters (145 feet), emphasizing the application of decompression theory and managing multiple gas blends during the dive.
- Dive 3: Maximum Depth Dive: Execute a planned dive to the maximum depth of 50 meters (165 feet), integrating all previously learned skills and demonstrating effective gas management and emergency procedures.
- Dive 4: Comprehensive Technical Dive: Conduct a complete technical dive to 50 meters (165 feet), simulating real-world scenarios, including dive planning, gas management, and emergency response. This dive solidifies your skills and prepares you for independent technical diving.
Prerequisites
- Minimum PADI Tec 45 certification (or equivalent).
- Minimum PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent).
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A minimum of 100 logged dives, including at least 20 dives deeper than 30 meters (100 feet).
- Medical clearance may be required.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the PADI Tec 50 course, you will earn the Tec 50 certification, which qualifies you to conduct technical dives to a maximum depth of 50 meters (165 feet). This certification opens up new opportunities for exploration and prepares you for more advanced technical diving courses.
